<added>Six new sizes in total</added>
Combo #1 {leaderboard + 468} shows the first 4 ads in the leaderboard and the next two in the 468.
Combo #2 {468 + leaderboard} shows the first 2 ads in the 468 and the next 4 in the leaderboard.
and so on......
You can place restrictions on their use such as no stacking, no more than lets say 2 ad units per page.
Large Rectangle is bigger than Medium Rectangle. It contains the same amount of ads, and the same amount of information, but is, er, a bit bigger. Golly.
Button offers exactly the same as Small Rectangle. One ad - yet Small Rectangle is, er, a bit bigger too. Gee.
The only new format that makes any sense is Wide Skyscraper which shows 5 ads, not 4. One would guess that the more ads that appear, the more one is likely to be relevant to the user, and thus click-thrus will increase. That's certainly what common sense would dictate.
As to the others, I'm feeling distinctly underwhelmed. Am I being unfair?
When they come out with some meaningful way to track click data, I'll be impressed.
On a totally different note, if G can process a search of over 3 billion pages in under a second, why can't they process my check in under 30 days (it's not like they're waiting 30 days to get paid) and offer direct deposit while they're at it?
Sending checks is so 20th century.
Looking closer, what was the reasoning behind the "Small Rectangle"? How is this any better than the "Button"?
The button has a width of 125 pixels, while the small rectangle has a width of 150. Both are really common sizes for side bars on sites, so I am guessing they wanted to cater to both common sizes for just the single ad.
I agree. Now on a number of pages I can put ads on the side bar that I had to put as a small banner at the bottom on short pages. Now the ads will be above the fold.
I's anyone having trouble getting their color schemes to work tonight? It was down then up and now it's down again. Here I am all eager to try some new ad shapes and I can't set my colors. Geuss I'd better give up and see how it is in the morning.
They might be working new features in an order that makes the most sense for them, though. Obviously 6 new ad size options may introduce some "freshness" to some sites, increasing revenue. They may not see any ROI in providing additional reporting features just yet. Although I would PAY for the ability to see this data. At least let us download the raw data and come up with our own reports or something. Ugh.
728x90 leaderboard with four listings; 468x60 banner with two listings; 120x600 skyscraper with four listings; and 300x250 inline rectangle with four listings.
