Michigan... Feb. 2... NO CHECK!
I wrote Google today and asked why it says it ws sent on 1/21 and it still hasn't arrived...
It's known that the date in the stats is when the cheque was sent out to the printing/payment processor. It's mailed out in general five days later than that date. It's all around this board...
However I know that for the last five payments a person in Belgium who posts to this board always gets their cheque two days before me and as they got theirs today I expect mine the day after tomorrow.
I thought being in England that the cheques would take longer to get here than to people in America. Cheques to me take about four days for me to receive them from the date they are posted in New York (by air mail). As they are mailed over a number of days and travel over varying distances (going to within America, to India to Australia) - the time it takes people to receive them will vary. However I do know that the time has always been four working days for me (apart from when there was a mail strike here). Once you have had a few Google Adsense cheques you stop worrying over them not arriving.
Then you start worrying about other things like:-
the length of queues at the bank
the rather large cut the bank takes on foreign currency cheques
the weak dollar - it was $1.44 to the £ when I started receiving dollar payments (before Google Adsense) - now it's $1.81 to the £ that means I get 25% less for each dollar I get (before bank charges)
whether it's worth opening a foreign currency account
...
etc....
1) The cheques aren't all posted on the same day
2) There's some order they are posted in that's kept the same each month (maybe by country, maybe by when you joined I'm not quite sure on the sort order they use)
3) The payment sent date seemingly just means the day when Google finally decides what the actual amount is and gets the cheque writing process started (or whoever they outsource it too)
4) Some (or a few) printers then spend a few days printing all the cheques, envelopes (with correct postage and address) and little invoice slip which are then all put together (or maybe they have one magical machine that just does it all and spits the envelopes out at the end)
5) Process 4 takes a few days then they are posted (again over a few days period - I pity the poor employee who has to carry those heavy mail sacks)
6) Cheque then enters the mail system and goes by air, train, foot, camel, van, flying carpet ;) etc to the person it's addressed to.
7) Repeat 1-6) on a monthly basis.
Totally unacceptable in my opinion for a multi-billion dollar company to be late on payment.
They are not late. All reports indicate these checks were mailed by the 30th, which is what their terms dictate. Google can't control the postal service and how long it takes USPS, Canada Post or any of the other country's postal service to deliver the mail to each publisher once Google has mailed them.
From AdSense:
We will mail you a check for your account balance within 30 days of the end of every calendar month that your earnings amount to $100 or more.
They have done exactly that.
Actually they haven't done that.. They say "every month". There was a month where they were about 20 days late.
I don't think taking 30 days to mail a check is acceptable.. a company as big as google, given 20 days should be able to get the checks out to the publishers who work hard every day for them.
I think most publishers who, here on the 3rd still have no check.. might feel a little misled given that 'payment history' indicates 'payment sent' on 21st.. That's not true, if it were more publishers would have checks by now. There's clearly some kinks in their payment processing or delivery.
Good grief! Are people here really crying because their check is a few days late? So what if Google had one month where things got backed up? So what, if they are right at the end of the payment cycle every month.
I for one, am glad to be working with them, and as long as I end up getting my check, I'm happy.
By the way, in keeping with the theme of this thread, I haven't received my December check yet, but you don't hear me crying.

Yes, but that was only a single month related to the tax issue. Others have reported receiving their checks, so it is clearly not the case this month.

Many other companies that pay for utilizing your web space pay on 60 or 90 day terms. And few of them pay as well as AdSense for many publishers.
Part of that 30 days is used for auditing possible fraudulent clicks. I know many publishers would rather they take the time to audit for fraudulent clicks rather than just suspending the accounts that generated them.
