Are there Fireworks in your AdSense Stats?

Or is it fizzling like a wet sparkler?

This is going to be a long weekend in the United States folks, so put your seatbelts on. The weekend starts Friday as many leave early from work, or don't show up at all. It ends on Tuesday evening when the final rocket's red glare is but an ash falling gently to the ground as people drive away in their minivans.

That's five days of misery for some, five days of up and down for others. Misery loves company so we're all here for you. :)

Share what you got!

Looks like a sizzler... holidays always do well for me.

Let the fireworks begin ;)

The Google serps troubles have already taken 70% of my income. I suppose it can only get even worse over the long weekend.

When a string of days like this rolls around the way I like to think about it is: Thank God I don't have a brick and mortar retail store!

If I decided to keep the store open I'd either have to work or pay employees, or both. Sales would probably be very slow to non-existant and I'd wind up losing money.

If I closed the store, I wouldn't have any sales at all.

With the 'Net and Adsense on a couple of sites I can go out and do what everybody else is doing and the cash register still goes kaching, albeit at a slower pace.

At about 10 cents a day to keep the store open I get to enjoy a few summer days and still put a few bucks in my pocket.

I typically rank well for people searching for fireworks information in my area. This traffic is nearly a zero CTR. Same with 'my area beach'.
As a result, this is my best traffic weekend of the year, but worst not only in terms of ctr, but actual revenue.

Summers and holidays are always slow for me. Most of my good traffic comes from Sept-May.

Speaking about 4th of July and fireworks....where are those holiday ad backgrounds from google?

And yet again another long holiday weekend in a major economy...

Does anyone apart from AdSensers/AdWorders work more than a 4~5 days in a row these days?

This holiday weekend may be slightly different since gasoline prices are a bit higher.

Many folks, who would usually take trips to other cities for vacation - are staying put. Of course it is a holiday, so they'll probably stay away from the computer no matter where they are.

Either way, I think my stats will drop.

Umm, my main site is ABOUT fireworks, actually. Just came off best month ever, and still doing around 40k impressions per day, but it does tend to drop off a bit on July 5th...

My traffic and earnings have slowed down a bit since yesterday morning. Things will catch up after tuesday I guess...

Tuesday was the last good day I've had this month. Still not quite as good as May (my first full month), but it was looking good until Wednesday arrived.

The last day of the month (Friday before July 4th holiday) was the worst day I've had in two months. Today, (Saturday morning has already doubled as far as this same time of day on Friday), so I have great hopes. Saturdays are USUALLY my worst day, so I am hopeful of perhaps a great July?

For those of you who have been doing this for years, do you usually find that people are less likely to shop (therefore not interested in clicking on ads), right before a holiday? I have no data to track as I've only been doing this for 2 and a half months.

As long as you're asking, you go first.

>>>you go first.

Sheesh, think I'm hiding something? Have I ever hid anything from you guys? I'm pretty open, so don't pull that "you go first" crap on me unless you intend on going next. Thanks. ;)

I don't want to influence what others are posting, and it was still early Friday afternoon when I created this thread, so a bit early to post how the weekend was going... but since you asked, here goes.

The lead up to Friday were the best days of the month for some of my sites, while others were depressed. Overall they were the best days of the month, better than any days in May.

Because my sites are in different areas, I could see what sectors appeared to be doing well, and which were depressed. Overall it seemed like people were anxious to finish business so they could get out of the office on Friday.

While Friday was within range of most Fridays, it was slow getting there. Saturday appears to be on the low side, lower than any Saturday in June.

June was good enough that I don't especially care how the holiday weekend goes. Which is just as well at this point since it's still to early to tell.

My US traffic will probably drop off a bit, but I'm certainly hoping things will pick up a little in terms of UK traffic now England have exited stage left from the World Cup :)

My AdSense is doing about the same as what I would expect from a weekday. (Saturday is usually one of my slowest days) :)

But, I think I was one of the lucky ones with the June 27 G update, I am getting a lot more traffic than usual.

Stacking up pretty much like a regular weekend.

I normaly loose on the holiday day itself by about 50% but that is it. It is a download site(24 - 20 meg downloads) and I think many people bookmark it and come back at a time like this to get them so that cushions things a bit.

I've now removed adsense from the beaches and fireworks section in favor of targeted affiliate ads and some political commentary.

Regular EPC, great CTR and excellent eCPM however this is making Easter look busy!

The last time I saw traffic so low was mid-December running up to and through Xmas and July 4th weekend 2005!

europeforvisitors

Traffic was down about 15% yesterday, compared to the previous Friday. Other statistics were normal.

I see the World Cup as a bigger threat to my income than July 4 will be. Come to think of it, I was watching the Portugal-England game myself a few hours ago. :-)

Seeing 35% drop in traffic already,
I think the combination of end of school vacations, world cup and 4th of July is not a happy mix for my site.

Adsense impressions look down about 50% to me. EPC lower than usual but CTR higher at a rate that makes up for it (the low EPC not the traffic loss).

I think this slump mainly due to the footie, once people sober up and stop feeling sorry for themselves it'll hopefully be business as usual.

Normally, I can't wait to look at my Adsense stats in the morning and throughout the day.

I haven't been able to bring myself to look at them for a couple of days now.

Traffic started a downward spiral for me on Friday afternoon in the States, and today (Saturday) is probably the slowest day I've had this year... traffic is down 45% from the normal Saturday.

My traffic is going downward everyday. My sites are totally lost nowhere in the SERPS.

Since Friday afternoon I've seen loads of traffic!

Unfortunately it has all been on the interstate, and little on my sites.

Oh well, in my entire 40+ years I've only had two jobs that had paid holidays, so this is nothing new. Actually, AdSense pays better than 0% so I'm coming out ahead.

If you are really stressing your income from day to day, you should go get a job working for the state.
