Which means 10:00am PST is 6:00pm GMT.
8 hours behind GMT (or UTC if you prefer). Which means 10:00am PST is 6:00pm GMT
Just to confuse matters, yes, PST is currently 8 hours behind GMT or UTC, but in california they are currently on PDT. In the UK, we're on BST (British Summer Time) which is one hour ahead of GMT/UTC, so California is currently 8 hours behind BST. If the downtime commences at 6pm GMT/UTC, then that will be 7pm BST and 11am PDT.
If anyone understood what I just said, could you sticky me and explain it to me, please :-).

Edit reason: I got myself confused between PST and PDT.
PST is Pacific Standard Time yes, but we are on PDT for Daylight time, i.e. advanced one hour.
Britain has something similar, but call it Summer Time.
During the winter, when both are on 'standard' time, California is 8 hours behind UTC = GMT.
For those months, British legal time is the same as UTC.
There is a bit of confusion in Spring and Fall, as we change our clocks on different dates from the UK.
Both are on Daylight = Summer time now however, so time in England is again 8 hours ahead of California.
The Pacific time zone is no small bit of land BTW.
P-time includes all of Califoria, Nevada, Oregon, Washington,
British Columbia and other parts of Canada and extreme NW Mexico.
The only part of Calif that borders the Mountain Time Zone is the extreme southwest, i.e. Arizona.
Personally, I wish Summer / Daylight time were abandoned entirely.
Arizona outlawed it, and uses Standard time all year around.
Maybe they just got tired of changing their clocks.
Farmers hate it. "The roosters don't adjust _their_ damned clocks!" said one.
One guy compared it to pulling a blanket over your head leaving your feet exposed.
Its like taking a dollar out of one pocket, putting it in another, and crowing about the money 'saved'.
Has an anyone calculated the LOSSES (time, confusion, missed appointments) due to "daylight savings"?

Now all I have to do is work out why ASA wrote PST if it's PDT there ;-).
Mind you I'm actually one timezone east of the Greenwich Meridian, but if I can convert an unfamiliar timezone to UTC, I can further convert it to my own personal timezone without thinking about it (too much), so if ASA continues to use PST and not bringing PDT into the mix, I can just add 8 hours + the requisite one or two at my end.
(Just to confuse things further part of my activities involves dealing with another timezone another 8 or so hours to the east. Fortunately I don't have to deal with the International Date Line though).

'us Brits' had 2hr daylight saving in the 2nd world war. We first had it introduced in the first world war, but just an 1hr.
So, if there is a 3rd world war, will we have 3 hours daylight saving? Or will the Bush principle apply: as it's the third strike the lights will go out for good?
Incidentally, with regards British Legal Time, the only BLT I know is a sandwich.
Next time you write a poem can you throw "updation delay" into the mix.

Just try living on the Greenwich Meridien like me!
Half the time I'm in the west and the other half in the east...there's even a brass rod running down the centre of the road telling me which hemisphere I'm in.
Funniest thing is that according to a GPS unit that the Meridien line is about 100 metres out of place!

A pleasure - I'm glad to have contributed to your evening. And I appreciate the request. The last time I enjoyed reading my poetry this much was when I found a couple of stowaways, as captain of a Vogon Constructor Fleet building an hyperspace express route.
Ah well, time to go see another war between aliens (Chelsea vs Liverpool)...
