Well I use adsense since 2003!
And runing about 250 websites ( not all of them use adsense )

And I have website with 140.000 page impressions per day but earning 4.5$ never hit 8$ per day on a single website!

But recently after reading articles here and there about 10k per months etc... I Got the feeling that some of you guys just lie about those high earnings!

I am in internet business since 1996. Don't really care much about adsense earnings just curious.

Open me if I am wrong!

...

One of my websites earns an average of 4 - 4.50 a day with +/- 300 page views. I *wish* I had as many pageviews as you.

thanks Mods for correcting the title and sorry for my bad English.

If it was not against TOS I posted my states here :)

And how you can earn that much with 0.01 - 0.02 cents per click usless you run a webste with zillions of page views.

What heared in discussions here, You can assume that the general average is about 10 times higher.

I assume You run some sort of fan site.

social networking website

This explains a lot. People on a social networking site are there for their social networks. Their goal is to stay on the site, not to leave it by clicking an ad. Therefore the CTR will be very low. This is something also seen at forums. When people visit a site every day they also develop a form of ad blindness.

Another problem might be ad targeting. Although forums have bad CTR, they can have high earnings per click when the subject of the forum is right. I would expect forums about electronic devices, webhosting etc. to have fairly good earnings per click. In your situation of a social networking site, I wouldn't know which type of ad would be present, but my guess is that it is a low competition area with low paying ads, or even on many pages no ads at all and PSAs (public service ads) instead.

AdSense earnings can be calculated with a simple formula:

Earnings = impressions * CTR * EPC

In your situation only the first factor is high. That makes it a hard time to enter the $10k range. But if CTR and EPC are good, you do not need a lot of visitors to reach that goal.

No-one has to prove themselves to anyone else. If you choose not to believe what people claim to earn, that's your problem, not theirs.
At 22, my earnings have meant I don't have to work another day in my life, have a new house, fully paid for, and 2 cars in the garage, and also given my wife the wedding she deserves. I'm sure there are many others like this, and I'll bet none of them care what you think either :)

Nice post!

Well I think users don't come just to click on my adds.

And yeh you can fool them 1 time or 2 times but then they realize where is add where is not.

So if social networking, Forums, Communities don't earn much then what kinda magic sites runing those guys who earn $10k!

Hard to say because those who are in the $10k range tend to keep their mouth shut about both their earnings and subjects. But think of sites with information about products where people want to spend money on: travel, electronic equipment and gadgets, real estate and health. High earnings per click can also be achieved with sites about products and services with a deadly competition between advertisers, like web-hosting.

Remember that a deadly competition between advertisers also often means a deadly competition between publishers. With your large number of visitors per day I would try some other advertising systems. Did you consider CPM ads for dating sites or other commercial sites with a social flavor?

140.000 page impressions per day

I only operate one site with Adsense and yes, I am earning MORE than $10K per month at daily impressions sooooo much lower than yours. If I have your impressions, I could make $25K a day! Some sites, just by the very nature of their topic and types of visitors, can rake in the dough in Adsense.

But please, just because you do not earn $10K a month does not mean that others are not doing it. Drop your skepticism and work hard on your sites - or scrap your sites altogether and start one that fits better with Adsense.

That's just terrible. I have a site with about 200k page views a day and make between 150-200$ daily. And it's entertainment category. You're doing something seriously wrong, try experimenting with your ad colours, placement, etc.

Nice to see someone with an entertainment site making money with adsense. I have a movie review website, but with only 100 visits a day max, well guess my income haha ;)

Niche, niche, niche

I have one site - low traffic high ad revenue, another high traffic low eCPM. You make a call as to which you go for and there you go ...

as in ad revenue you mean earnings through impressions or?

johnblack

1:08 pm on Mar 13, 2006 (gmt 0)

I meant high ad revenue

On one site I may $1 for a click - not usually but occasionally - the other never ever more than 10c a click. But they are different niches and that is my point.

Ah i get it. Well my only problem is the visitors since they're mostly loyal returning ones so they ignore the ads. Well, I'm just hoping to pop up somewhere in google search soon.

ddem1, at least they come back - that says something about your site. You must be doing something right.

Yeah, they like it. Hope "content is king" is a true fact. Only have to wait for google to crawl all the backlinks to get some random visitors. But don't want to go too much off topic with this thread.

johnblack

ddem1, if you are truly providing unique and original content then you will 'get there'

As for going off topic - I'm sure there are a multitude of adsense people making 10k a month. They may be not too willing to share their secrets with the rest of us. But then who would be, when the wave comes you ride it and take it for all it offers.

Catch the breeze dude.

I'm not making 10K (Yet!) but I will tell you I used to have a problem making the minimum payment every month.

If you really want to make $ with adsense you have to give it prominant placement, not buried somewhere off to the side or down at the bottom. You also have to realize the value of keywords, some payout pennies, some pay out dollars. Don't chase the top dollar words until you've "figured it out" there is a supply - demand distortion, instead go after some middle tier words. You can also try arbitrage, buying lower priced niche terms via adwords and directing them to pages with relevant higher priced more general adsense terms (this can be dangerous if not implemented correctly).

Lots of publishers earn $10k/month, some of them even earn a LOT more.

Maybe AdSense isn't the right advertising program for your sites. If you really get 140 000 impressions a day you should be able to earn a lot more.

When I started adsense, I hardly make 500/month for the first several months. I wanted to make 1000/month, so I tested many, many things; ad layout, placement etc. When I hit the right combinations my earnings jumped and passed 2k marked right away. I'm now in the process of attaining 5k and eventually 10k. I think the secrets (not secret at all) are finding high paying topics and getting enough visitors. I know some people may argue that targetting expensive keyword but you have no knowledge about would not work, as you are not offering good contents for your visitors or call it MFA. But you can always research and put the most basic information about the topic and you get a lot of adsense clicks from the people who wanted more information that they can't find in your website. Of course, you need to be good at getting traffic for this to work.
