We talked about the number of reasons I'm currently staying with Yahoo (mainly $$$), and what it would take for me to switch back to Adsense (again, $$$).
I also got confirmation of something I had only thought was true. Apparently with Smart Pricing, if you have multiple sites, and one of them performs badly, it will lower your earnings not only for that 1 site, but for all sites in the account.
Anyone else get a call?

How smart pricing works
We are constantly analyzing data across our network, and if our data shows that a click is less likely to turn into business results (e.g. online sale, registration, phone call, newsletter sign-up), we may reduce the price you pay for that click. You may notice a reduction in the cost of clicks from content sites.We take into account many factors such as what keywords or concepts triggered the ad, as well as the type of site on which the ad was served. For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras.
This is exactly what I have been saying in various threads. It is a marketing no brainer. If your target market is military surplus, would you advertise in Baby Talk, a magazine for new or expecting parents? No. So, why do you expect all engines to rank your nitch site well. By defition a nitch site will not appeal to all people, off all interests, all income levels, all genders, all ages, around the world. Following the train of thought, if you want smart pricing to work, you have to target your advertising, which includes seo, correctly.
Each engine has a target market, and you have to match the site with the engine that has your market. If you do that, the CTR and ECM is high.
People, you need to spend much more time working your stats. This is basic stuff.
And I SURE IN HELL am not going to publish a thousand pages of CRAP that I don't care about, like some people do, in an attempt to increase AdSense revenues. That is the mentality that junks up the Net with useless FLUFF and scraper sites, people trying to make an easy buch churning out crap "for the search engines."
I don't create content for search engines (although I do optimize the content for each of them), I create content for people who are in need of concise, accurate information about a specific tech niche.
Luckily for me. my niche is Tech and Google is the search engine of choice by Techies. EVERYTHING else is just gravy, for my situation. That's why I don't even bother pushing the issue with other search engines, they are inconsequential for my application.
My big site made about $800 per day for awhile and then got hammered with smart pricing down to $150 per day, in the last 10 days it's back up to $600 per day or so...
I have to believe that that maybe if I switch to YPN for the big site, maybe the remaining 45 sites will get back to their previous earnings?
Think I should test it out? Or am is my thinking incorrect?

Keep in mind that like most Google technology, our system for calculating advertiser pricing gets updated regularly. We're constantly improving our ad products to benefit both the publisher and advertiser communities; what benefits one side ultimately benefits the other.
In other words, "Don't leave for YPN until we factor competition from YPN into smart pricing!"

Really? And how is it that the publishers keep complaining? How about the truth, i.e. Google improvesd its ad products to improve their profits as they have a fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders to do so.

Until September 2004, only one add allowed per page.
Febrauary 2005, AdLinks, a major improvement of my income, the most revenues per pixel ad space ever seen.
Something seemed to happen also in July to improve CTR and eCPM. I did at this time no improvement actions, the higher CTR and eCPM was a surprise.
I think without Google's improvements since June 2004, my income would be maybe 50% of my today's income.

I was thinking these Keiro guys are just disabling ads but they are blocking any IRL that contain adsense.
many publishers have experienced Adsense earnigs decline after adding chitika.
I have. But that's because I moved a few thousand ad spots from Adsense ads to Chitika ones. :)
In case you're interested it's proving very profitable indeed (hence the site in my profile).
Whenever I change too much, it seems like it flips a switch that discounts things for nearly a week
