I'm looking to have my own (prebuilt and free) spider and search index on my site...I'm long overdue and I'm looking for suggestions!

- PHP / MySQL
- Admin Control Panel
- Ability to configure the spider to crawl aautomated times to scan or manual scan.
- Ability to have results on my own pages instead of some styled up page thats not mine nor looks like my site.

The first thing I came across is PHP Dig but I don't want to miss any gems if they make this one look like a rock.

there are a bunch of spider scripts around.

Are you just looking to index your own content or other content as well?

phpdig is alright, I haven't used it but have heard more good than bad. Search solutions is a tough question, everyone is looking for one but there aren't a huge number of high quality solutions around.

My thoughts on starting this would be to look through whatever scripts you can find and design something from the good points of the ones you find. Then to try and stay away from their bad ones. ;)

I've been playing around with PHPDig and I believe it to be the answer that had been eluding me.

My search path...
search/search.php

I've got the whole search spitting out completely valid markup and the results are pretty accurate.
