I finally had an opportunity to dig into this a bit. jk, do you know if Oracle will be charging any additional fees? I followed the IT Jungle news link from [zend.com...] and read the article. OpenSource doesn't mean free ... at least not in the IBM shop.

Funny part is, I've done a lot of development on IBM's iSeries and it doesn't cost a dime more. You setup your standalone *nix box with an ODBC driver and it is lightning fast. Why pay the extra dollars? I'm a bit confused by the details I guess. Time to call Big Blue for some details ...

yeah, they kinda confuse me too but I find it an amazing boost for PHP to be in with the biggest boys. I was on that call for the oracle core and it was interesting. I will wait and see what happens when it is released.
