Hello everyone,

I'm a programming newbie and I have some questions regarding to upgrade php, apache, mysql, phpmyadmin, please. I hope somebody help me out..

I installed Abria Merlin package awhile ago to study php, but it has older version of php, apache, mysql, phpmyadmin and perl, so I want to upgrade them to the latest versions.

I downloaded the latest version of the above programs - how can I upgrade these programs without uninstalling the existing old version of the programs? Can I just install the newer versions over older ones?

Or, is this good idea to uninstall Abria Merlin package and reinstall the latest programs?

If it too complicate to explain here, can you please point me to the manuals that explaining how to upgrade?

I'm using xp home.

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld bohemian

I am not familiar with that package but you can install all of those things individually.

Apache
[httpd.apache.org...]

PHP
[php.net...]

PERL
[perl.about.com...]

MySql
[mysql.com...]

phpmyadmin
[phpmyadmin.sourceforge.net...]

Thanks for reply,

After pulling a lot of my hair out, I decided to install this phpdev4 php package, and was easy to install. I feel so amateur, oh well, I take time...

Thanks again,
