nl2br() and skipping lines

Hi, I am using nl2br() to make a guestbook. It works fine fine someone hits return to skip a line. But when someone's text overflows and has to go to the next line, there is a random line that is skipped when I output it from the database... Is there a way to get rid of this?

I think you canf ix that with the actual attributes of the textarea look at the different options for wrap
