Has anyone been to a local PHP users group?

I just went tonight to the Vancouver PHP users group. Very interesting experience, got into it about programming sites for SE spiderability (big surprise). I even had one fellow say that SE rankings were like black magic, that was entertaining.

Very interesting to sit with a bunch of people who actually know PHP and getting to talk about PHP methodologies and doing business as a PHP contractor.

Even bought my first PHP book. Anyone else been to a PHP users group? I would be intrigued to hear what you thought about it.

Hadn't even thought to see if there was one near me. Off to check...

<added>There's one in my state, but they're probably a long drive - named Nortwest IN, and I'm pretty squarely Southwest. On top of that, their listed web page is [ip-address...] which returns a 403, and the next directory up just says "hello world"...</added>

There seem to be a ton of them in Germany so I don't think you'll have a problem if you are interested.

Meetup looks much better. I typed in my zip code and got to vote on one of three locations, none of which are more than a 15 minute drive from home. :) There are deffinitely benefits to living in a town that consists of a major university and supporting businesses.
