Current problems with PHP 5.0.3?

Hi

We are using a very reliable hosting service. Currently they have installed PHP 4.3.10 as a stable version. Unfortunately this version does not have XSL functionality which we need. They have another version that we may use which is PHP 5.0.3. However they do not officially support it at this time, nor do they recommend this for use with production sites. So basically we use this at our own risk.

Does anyone know how stable 5.0.3 version would be? Where is this version failing? How serious are the problems? We just need to understand the risk a little better.

Many thanks for your help

well since version 5.0.4 is the current release I wouldnt worry too much. If you want to understand more then read through the PHP 5 Changelog [php.net] as well as Migrating from PHP 4 to PHP 5 [php.net]

I use 5.0.3 on my server and havent experiened any problems with it.

companies are often fussy about officially offering support for a new version of something until its been checked to not casue any compatibility problems but in 99% of the cases there isnt anything to worry about they're just covering themselves rather than hinting at an actual issue
