PHP testing

I would like to test some of my PHP scripts. Does anyone know of a free web hosting service that offers some PHP support (and maybe mySQL support). A long shot I know. But perhaps worth asking. Replies by stickymail please - no ads (even for free services) in the forum.

P.S I will get paid PHP hosting in time. But just for this small interim period - anyone know of a free service? Or perhaps even just an online PHP script tester/debugger?

what about a local install?

there are a couple of threads in the library thast will help. When I did it I followed both together as I did not find the first sufficient in itself. I also did not use apache 2

Thanks guys. Your response has been brilliant. I am really sorry to muddy the waters. But the thing is that I am on a computer network at the moment and dont have installation privaledges for new programs. It is a real pain I know. So, I was hoping that there would be somewhere virtual - perhaps a website where I can cut and paste PHP code and see if I can get it working.

I realise that my current situation isn't sustainable. I am hoping to be working on a different machine soon - but for now I am in this ridiculous situation.

Once again many thanks.

there are some out there

what about with your home ISP maybe, I know my ISP allows free web space with my account I just haven't ever used it, nor do I know where it is.

There are a ton of free hosts around, if it is only short term then just grab any one of them with php and go for it

Still no stickies on a free web host offering PHP support (with perhaps MySQL support). Anyone? Would be so grateful for any suggestions.

<snip> is (or at least was last time I checked) a free PHP / MySQL host.

Very slow (to be expected) and has an annoying banner, but it does work.

Of course, localhost is a much better option for testing.
