I started posting in late December asking for help with a new PHP/MySQL db website I'd been hired to do...knowing NOTHING about either PHP or MySQL but fancying myself a pretty decent designer. All I knew is that, based on some preliminary posts here, that it COULD be done, I just needed to figure out how.
I quoted the project at 40 hours (ha!) knowing that I really needen't attempt to charge the client for the learning curve hours. That said, everyone on this board was a TREMENDOUS help. The website launches on Friday, and by god, it WORKS, WORKS WORKS!
I posted numerous times asking for specific help for an obstacle, and search many many times into the bowls of the boards to find answers to questions I was facing. With that, two thick how-to books, and soooooooooooooooooooo much trial and error, I got that bad boy up and running.
And, in the process, learned PHP/MySQL so the NEXT time I quote a project, I won't be lying! (haha, but seriously...)
Anyway, this board is invaluable and I truly believe it's been paramount in my business going from a dream to being successful.
