What are my options for compiling my PHP scripts so that I can distribute them withotu giving people access to the source code.
Cheaper the better. And I prefer open source solutions, but won't rule out commercial or freeware (yes, I prefer to make my programs open source too, but sometimes that's just not an option)
Unfortunately I don't have $2,400 to spend on Zend Encoder o_O

I have used php guardian (now called source guardian) for some time and found it very good for distributing demo versions of my software.
Beside encrypting the script, you can time limit your software and even bind it to a particular servers IP address.
Its not free, but $250 for the pro version is well worth it (IMHO).
Thanks,
Zend Studio + Zend Encoder + Zend Performance Suite (Accelerator Edition)
All for a single $295 lifetime payment!
