'date' command?

Warning Stupid Newbie Question Ahead

OK, you've been warned. This is probably a stupid question.

I am installing a forum on a site for the first time (minibb) and am having problems.

I have everything uploaded, have my cgi-bin setup, etc. I ran the install file and tables were created.

The problem is that when trying to enter the forums page it comes up but with no login and password prompt for users and no way to get to the admin prompt.

I inquired to the developer who wrote the code and then said it was likely a problem with my Apache user not having permission to run the "date command."

My host has yet to reply to confirm or deny this possibility. Anything else I should look for in the mean time?

aside from the fact I dont see how a date can give you such a problem, do yourself a favour m8 and install phpbb, all free :)

Should I assume from your last post that you just discovered the reports about phpbb having been hacked a few weeks ago?

Or was it regarding something else?

few weeks ago...hardly...I checked it the last time around a week ago afaik to copy paste a url to someone

Yes I posted there before I posted here StupidScript. That's where I got the suggestion about the "date command". I have also been working with my host to check things on their end.

On the minibb forum, things have progressed since my initial post here.

It's still not working but it's getting closer.

My feeling right now is that it's likely a cookie problem.
