I'm a rookie with Windows Servers (what can i say, i love linux)

I need some help installing PHP and MYSQL on my windows server. I don't know if this affects anything, but i also have Plesk installed on it.

I tried the directions on php.net and mysql.com and it didn't work. I need "php for dumbies" directions of how to do it. Thanks!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld iuploads,

it just so happens that we have 2 such threads in the PHP Library [webmasterworld.com]

Installing a new web server: Apache2, PHP5, MySQL4 and PHPmyAdmin [webmasterworld.com]
Installing PHP5 Under Windows XP and Apache [webmasterworld.com]

the first one is comprehensive, the second primarily for the php5 installation if you run into problems.

are you going to use apache? You didn't mention if it was Apache or IIS.

One thing that is a problem is multiple attempts at installation. Take the time and track down every single scrap of ph and/or mysql and get rid of them. Then start fresh.

What versions of php and mysql are you looking at using? Also, if you are using Apache, what version of apache is it?

I'm not sure what version of Apache or IIS I have. It's running Plesk, and I think IIS.

I want to install PHP 4.3.9 and MySQL newest version. Thanks!

well you will need to find out whether it is Apache or IIS and what version. Plesk doesn't really matter, as far as I know, it is just server admin software. I have never used it so I do not know if that helps with installation or not.

the only other link I have for you is

PHP Installation on Windows systems [php.net]
