How to make it pop up once?

hi everyone

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way i can put a

"Dont tell me again" link on a pop up window i have on my site?

At the moment my site is being updated and i have a pop up window that shows when someone goes to my site, however i am wondering how i can only make it pop up once per user.

Hi fspigroup,

If you have access to server side scripting you could do it that way.
If you can't use SSI then you could set a cookie and validate the cookie exists on return to the site.

I was thinking of a cookie plant however i have not done this before.
