I am having the same problem, try using Opera instead of IE for this purpose - it works for me.

I think SP2 turns it back on if you had it off before you installed SP2.

Even in SP2 it is turned off.

if u use something other then firewall embed in SP2, exp. zone alarm pro, it switches firewall in sp2 automatically..

and i really want to view my files with Explorer..
it must b fix somewhere out there..

I have SP2 and I have never had a problem viewing php files from my local hard drive what exactly do you want to do? Edit them? View them as if they were html files without a server? View them with Server Side Scripting using a server such as Apache or Abyss? All of these still worked when I installed the SP2 patch. Whats the error you are receiving?

regards,
Mark

Had same problem (I'm using Win XP pro with SP2). Ended up using solution recommended by grahamstewart in the following discussion:
[webmasterworld.com...]

I have a .bat file that starts up apache. I've copied this file for each one of my sites and edited it so that it gives the name of the site e.g.
apache.exe -D sitename
I've changed the icon for each one and I just click on the icon for the site I want.
