Timed mailings after 1 month, 2months...

I am in the planning stages of a site using a cms, I will have various free articles, toolkits and other resources. A whole load more information will be viewable by registered users.

As I will be trying to sell e-books and other things I would like to periodically send a mailing to people after they have been registered for a certain period of time, 1 month... The email would ask them if they would like to sign up to recieve 5 day email course which obviously then link to paid information and reinforce the fact that the ebooks are actually quite good.

At this stage I am literally just learning php and how to tweak the cms and haven't actually delved into SQL much yet (although I have a decent access background). Firstly is this actually possible?
Will it be easy to do?
Is there are ready made script for this? (I don't want to reinvent the wheel)

Thanks for that. That should make things a lot easier now (once I've decided which one to go for that is).
