We are considering:
PHP and MySQL Web Development, Second Edition or
Web Database Applications with PHP & MySQL
In addition to one of the above we may also purchase:
MySQL, Second Edition.
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Thanks in advance!
Timotheos,
Would you say that the PHP and MySQL Web Development, Second Edition book has everything you need to get going for MySQL? Some of the reviews I have read say it leaves a lot to be desired in regards to MySQL. That is why I was also considering the MySQL Second Edition, but wasn’t sure if I needed it or not.
Thanks again.

I'd say yes.

Mind you, I haven't read the DuBois book but it looks like an excellent resource.
I think it depends.
If you got the budget then I'd just buy both. Why not? Knowledge is good.
If this is part of your day job then I'd buy both.
If your project is even somewhat more complex then the examples in the first book then I'd buy both.
Hope that helps,
Tim
Thanks for the info! As Budget is always a concern, we are going with just the first book for now. PHP and MySQL Web Development, Second Edition. If we need to get into the depths of MySQL, we will pick up the MySQL Second Edition down the road. I had a chance to check all three out at the local book store and I believe the first one will be a good fit.
Thanks again for all the opinions and thoughts. They were a big help!
