remote control/scramble on sold software

Hi!

I am selling a php/mysql powered readymade website and accept online payments via credit card.

Of late, I have been a victim of frequent chargeback scams where people purchase the code, install it on their servers and then apply chargebacks with a malicious intent.

What I need is: a system where I can remotely lock / scramble / add banner to a such a (stolen) website that forces the stoppage of use of this website code. Else, there should be a time-limited lock that will need to be opened using a special password sent across when the safe period for applying chargeback (6-months) has lapsed.

What best can be done in this situation?

Any help will be most appreciated.

Ok, I have found a website called IonCube : [ioncube.com...] that does somewhat I am looking for. Any clues on how good/bad this is?

Fresh inputs are still awaited.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Othello,

We talked about it a bit here.
Protecting Intellectual Property of PHP [webmasterworld.com]

It is a very difficult issue because the problem is inherent in the nature of scripting languages.
