mySQL on windows

hi,

my host doesnt support mySQL so i was wondering is it possible to install mySQL on another server with another host and connect to it from another host? for example I have a dedicated server that i can install mySQL on, will I be able to get my scripts on the other host to connect to the MySQL on my dedicated server?

As long as port 3306 is open it should be able to connect to it. I have been doing it on my pc for a little while for a couple websites.

My experience with a couple of different Web site host companies is that they close off port 3306 so that you can't do what you are talking about. You need to call your hosting company to find out what their policy is.
