Reservations Systems

Hoping for some input on the following:

I've got a client in the car rentals business who is interested in a reservations system that would link up various locations as well as provide real time online reservations for a good size fleet of vehicles....

I know almost less than zero about PHP and/or ASP and don't really have the time or energy to try to learn it at the moment.

My question is do you have any recommendations on user friendly software of this nature or is this something that needs to be custom made and, if so, any recommendations on where the best place to locate talent might be?

Thanks in advance,

Billy

You can check for ready made scripts at hotscripts.com or sourceforge.net

I would imagine if you're serious about it the best route would be to hire someone to make the system fit your needs. There is a commercial exchange here at WW that you could fish for help.

After searching for more than a year for a package that offered a similar reservation system - at a reasonable price - we gave up and had one custom built for us.

The cost of our new, perfectly customised system, came out at about 20% of the cost of the better commercial packages we were able to find!

We chose our "talent" based on their experience, their programming language being one we were familiar with, and most importantly - a company located close enough to us to permit frequent face to face meetings.

I was shocked at the high prices being quoted out there for off-the-shelf software, when custom work is so cheap. I guess speed and convenience commands the high prices...
