I was looking for a script with which i could offer my visitors a free counter service but didnt found any solide one.
Everyone i have contacted told me that their website is based on a custom script
Does anyone know a good script for that porpose?

There are plenty of counter scripts [hotscripts.com] on the web. These are just some pre-made examples, however it's very simple to create your own :)

they would be the same, you would just need to call it remotely if you want it to track another site.

the counter script itself is the same, the user support can be built and would be fairly straight forward. very similar to any other user based system.

I'm not exactly sure why you would want to keep track of user counts on your server when you are helping other webmasters. Don't you think referring them to a pre-made script would be sufficient? Or even something that required minimal work on their part, and no work on yours; something like [statcounter.com...]

thats not so easy to hack a script to support multi user and other stuff no?
If i could i would custom program it from scratch

I am trying to offer a service similar to statcounter myself, why would i refer them to someone else website?

it would be a custom job I would think. The only people who have coded these are, more than likely, the people who offer the service. I wouldn't expect to find any lying around.

you will probably have to code it or pay someone to do it for you.

Unfortunally custom programming seems to be the only way out
