I was browsing a function tonight and seen a reference in the docs to PHP6 so I did a quick search. Oh yes, it's on it's way ...

Hopefully the devs do not overlook the one glaring problem they made with PHP 5, that you can't run it beside PHP 4 with both running as apache modules. Hopefully the devs will make 6 so that it can run beside PHP 4/5 as an apache module, and I think we'll then see a rather smooth transition from 4/5 to 6.

Otherwise, as the article says, we'll likely have 3 competing major PHP versions 4/5/6 just like we have 4/5 now.
