Until recently, I never received any cpu errors when publishing material to my blog. But lately, I've been seeing this:

CPU QUOTA EXCEEDED
Account temporarily ran out of CPU recources. Please close your browser and try again later.

When I called my host, they said it was a php scripting error due to the script not executing within 12 seconds. They didn't think there was a server side error & thought it was due to something within my (Wordpress) blog installation.

Can anyone tell me more about the error & why I might be getting it & how I can fix it?

does it only happen on a particular script or a certain action that you are doing?

Is it only when you make very large posts?

does it work if you try the same action/script again?

I've been in touch with my host, BlueHost & they say the error is on their end. They claim they'll fix it today but the problem has existed for nearly 2 wks. now. It's an unbelievable drag rendering my site inoperable for me & my visitors about 50% or more of the time.

>> It's an unbelievable drag

no kidding, I might quietly start looking for a new host

A forum I post on has been getting the Red Screen with the CPU error on it too.
It's hosted thru Bluehost as well, and I think that Bluehost told the forum owner that it wasn't on their end.
Why do they lie?
How long does it take for them to fix it?

Emma: It not necessarily caused by Bluehost though it might be. There can be many things within the forum site's installation that could cause the overload. But since BlueHost has been having these problems (they admitted to me that other customers have called w. this problem) it may very well be their fault. But to be fair, other Bluehost techs have said the problem isn't on BH's end. I just think it's a case of the right hand not knowing what the left's doing. All of which doesn't say much about BH. They just can't fix the problem.

Has the forum site owner checked his own installation (by turning off any/all plugins in use for example). ANother option would be to uninstall & reinstall the site software to see whether a php script might've been corrupted.

If that fails, the site owner should change hosts asap.

To Jatar--I have indeed moved my site to a diff. server. So far no cpu errors. I hope I've left that far behind.
