I've been using GD to create thumbs and am not satisfied by the "bluriness" of the thumbs generated. Is there a way to sharpen an image in GD 2+ or you need imagemagick? Anybody know if imagemagick adds lots of overhead to your server?

If you are using imagejpeg [ca.php.net] to output the thumb then you can use a higher quality image.
