I'm a php newbie, but I think it is great. It's fairly easy to pick up, too. Of course, whenever I read threads from the experienced php programmers, I see how fmuch I still have to learn.

That number will probably grow rapidly in the near future.

As that number keeps slowly ticking up I smile more and more. The yahoo switch should help the profile of php quite a bit.

It always amazes me that when companies are advertising for the standard "we need someone who knows everything and we will pay them nothing" they very seldom mention php.

I have run into two companies recently that php is all they do. Slowly but surely things are coming around.

Sad*, itīs really very sad*.

* The fact that PHP is on the rise, that is. I donīt really care about ASP although I spend about 1 year doing a rather large project in VB6.

>>Sad*

I thought you liked it, since you are so good at it. :)

I guess it is ok, but I learned PHP because most shared hosting providers only let you use PHP not because I thought it is a great language.

But to tell the truth for a lot of quick scripting for the web it is indeed faster to write and easier to use than mod_perl.

And since Adam is the resident PHP advocate around here I decided to not advocate it even further ;)

I think I agree 100% with Andreas.
The sad thing is, IMHO, in hosting providers Php-Growing && Perl-C-NotGrowing.
At least I hope Php will replace Asp. :)
