There might not have been a problem at all with the stats yesterday. They may have been turned off so Google could work on a few problems and install new software for upgrades. There has been talk about fixing the "on trial/on hold" problem for the past few months. Also, I've heard talk about a new model from Adwords that charges advertisers on content sites "per thousand impressions" instead of so much per click. These issues and others might have caused them to shut the stats down for a period of time.
In the past we always got the ugly screen about adwords being down. They may now have a way just to freeze things instead of taking the entire adwords.google.com address off-line.
What has happened is that reporting of stats was delayed for a number of hours. I want to set your minds at ease that:
* AdWords and AdSense were NOT Offline, as was incorrectly reported on the homepage of WebmasterWorld there being a substantial difference between a reporting delay and being offline!
* Ads were running as normal during the reporting delay.
* No stats were lost. They were just late being sent.
* This issue was resolved hours ago, and should 'catch up' in accounts before too long.
Very sorry for any uncomfortable moments this may have caused you all. And I think the AdWords Web Decelerator thing is pretty darned funny jim2003! It's good to keep a sense of humor. Thanks for that. ;)

This is pure speculation:

Just saw this after I posted, MarkHutch.
Nope, that isn't the case.

Interesting theory, but not the case. This does give me a chance, though, to hint that we're working on ways to inform you all of issues such as this in a more proactive way. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Oh well. It was fun to guess about it. :)
Heheh. ;)
Here's the power of WebmasterWorld for you, MarkHutch:
When folks on WebmasterWorld start guessing about stuff, we start getting emails asking if it's true!
(Which, BTW, is why it makes my hair stand on end to see WebmasterWorld report on it's homepage that AdWords and AdSense are Offline!) =:/
P.S. An update site would be great, AWA. When something isn't working right for several hours, folks will get involved in speculation as to the cause. I'm just glad I don't have that problem! :)
Agreed, on both accounts. :)

Daily budget unchanged for months on Campaign X,
lets say for example $100 a day.
Today, fifth of the month diag tool tells me ad is not showing, have exceeded my monthly budget yet my monthly spend does not exceed $3000 (100 x 30) (for that matter it doesn't exceed $500) and I change the daily budget to $120 a day and the ads start to show,
then an hour later change it back to $100 and they still show 2 hours later.
I lost a half a day of ads because of this.
How do you explain what happened to me?
joeventura, as you probably know there is a mechanism that watches over lots of factors including Daily Budget, Max CPC, number of impressions, etc - and constantly adjusts delivery of one's ad so that the daily budget is not exceeded over the course of the 24 hour day.
When stats are delayed this mechanism can be thrown off, and the campaign may be 'overdelivered' (as mentioned elsewhere in this thread). This becomes free advertising for you, since you don't pay for clicks that are beyond your budget over time.
Anyway, my guess is that your campaign was overdelivered on the 4th, which means that you got more clicks than you bargained for on the 4th, and the system is trying to under-deliver on the 5th in order to balance things out.
You'll probably find that over the two days, you'll have gotten the clicks that your budget allowed for (and that you expected), and that some of them will be free.
Some advertisers are actually pleased on the rare occasions when stats are delayed, since they may well get free clicks. A scan of this thread shows at least one such advertiser. :)
For an answer more particular to your account, though, I'd suggest contacting the AdWords support folks. They can be more specific, since they can see your account.

sorry awa - my fault. In the rush to publish, sometimes the rushing gets ahead of the publishing. (remember, you can pick up a phone or email in times of trouble...lol 911@webmasterworld.com...)
Glad things are getting back to normal there.

Brett!
Thanks for your very gracious post, and for the homepage fix. Both are truly appreciated! Thanks for the resource reminder too. ;)
