My strategies include:
Brainstorming all relative keywords/phrases on my own.
Using thesaraus/dictionary to find similar keywords/phrases.
paste them all into the google suggestion tool
taking googles suggestions and adding them to my own
using googles suggestions to spark other keywords/phrases in my head.
Then I test them all and the ones that get a lot of traffic I use as models to create more keywords.
Can't wait to hear from everyone else!

In the beginning I use a lot of the same tactics. I still use the Overture tool and I will break it down by searching a keyword. I will then look for other interesting keywords attached to my target keyword and then search them. After a while I usually have a very comprehensive list.
When you get a new campaign to set up, you:
1. Brainstorm as many keywords as possible. List in an excel spreadsheet.
2. Paste all of these terms into the Google sandbox tool. Note similar terms and add them to the list.
How do you research the Overture / Wordtracker and use them to build your keyword list even deeper?
