Just looking at my stats and they say, for example, for these key words :
green widgets 8 and red widgets 1
Now does that mean that I should be concentrating on green widgets or red widgets?

Are those sales stats or click through stats or neither?

Very sorry - my boob - I should have stated that they are the stats for the unique vistors to the site.

okay, It seems like you would be best served figuring out which SE's those visits are coming from. If they all come from one SE, then I would still optimize or advertise for both keywords. Red widgets are clearly not ranked as well as green, but people might think of using "green widgets" before they think of using "red widgets" when they're looking for widgets in general.

You might want to track conversions as well. If green widgets doesn't get any sales, then its not worth optimizing for. It's not always about the most traffic, it's about the traffic that makes you money (assuming you make money on your site somehow).
