So a keyword tag like "Meta Tag,keywords,comma versus space, ..." specifies keywords as well as phrases. At least i remember it being so in the past.
To my surprise i couldn't find any official w3c specs about commas vs. space for the keyword tag. The only official example i found is:
W3C - Notes on helping search engines index your Web site [w3.org]
<META name="keywords" content="vacation,Greece,sunshine">
<META name="description" content="Idyllic European vacations">
No spaces after a comma and no mention of phrases (which doesn't mean spaces shouldn't be used) ...
Method #1
keyword1,keyword2,keyword3
Method #2
keyword1 keyword2 keyword3
Method #2 apparently enables the keywords to be used in various combinations, to suit the search. I don't know if this works but I would like to. Does anyone else know?
BTW, there is another thread regarding the "value of keywords" debate. There seems to be evidence that Google refers to meta tag keywords if it can't find results elsewhere (typos inn surch turms).
I don't see any point worrying about smaller, unknown SEs, since they don't bring any traffic anyways, just waste your bandwidth. Many people go as far as banning them from site access.
Inktomi (which is the only SE of note to use the things) says to use commas.
