Hi,

Any comments on this:

If your primary keyword is cars and you use many combinations of it on a page. 2 or 3 word phrases have a keyword density of 5-10%, but then the word car has 20% or above. Could this affect the ranking in a negative way?

I always try to keep the keyword density to 3-5% - otherwise you can end up not making sense.

Work for your audience and the search engines will follow. No reason why you cannot target different phrases on each page. If it reads right then leave it be. Spammy copy does not read well.

I don't expect problems with that.

My text "reads right" and makes sence. So you mean itīs ok if the density for the main keyword is high (20% or above)? I havenīt done the copywriting with the density in mind (not trying to boost it).

I have been testing different "optimization tactics" with a couple of my pages for Inktomi (with paid submission). The density doesnīt seem to make a big difference. Donīt know exactly how Google treats high keyword density pages and if there is a limit for what is treated as spam?

Example:

One site I manage has many pages for products and the navigation between those pages is via a drop down meny. As the products all have the same "main keyword" in them followed by the specific product code the keyword density for the "main keyword" on those pages is very high. Anyway, this doenīt seem to have any negative effect on Inktomi.

I think you'll be fine in Google as well.
