Keywords 101

I've been researching keywords related to my industry and have found quite a few where I would have little to no competion. Very basic question. If I had a handful of keywords that are related to a site I already have up and running, should I:

a) add the keyword phrases to meta tags of the existing site

b) add the keywords into the body of the page

c) add a new page to the site and focus on the keywords there

d) deal with the expense of buying and adding a new domain, specific to one keyword phrase and focus just on it

I am second guessing if simply adding the keyword phrase to an existing site once or twice would be enough to lock in that search result. Another consideration is that adding keyword phrases involves rewriting an existing page thereby changing its flow. Same would go for metatags. Any suggestions would be great as I seem to just be rambling. Thanks.

If you are saying you have little or no competition for this keyword for the moment, I think C is the best bet with a link to no-one else has my widget on the pages that are related to the keyword. Obviously, if you think you've found a niche then D could well be a good acquisition to have, even if it means not letting your competition have it.

Johnnstacy,

Because you said the new keywords are related to a site you already have i would recommend (c), too.

But besides this i would consider what jrobbio said about (d). Maybe it's a good idea to buy a new domain if you expect your competitors will otherwise do this.

Organising your site concerning keywords try "theme pyramids":

Hope that helps.

C seems the best option to me.

Sorry, this is a bit of a silly question, but what does the 101 in the post title mean? I've seen it used elsewhere too, but I never quite understood it ;)

The way college courses (USA) are numbered, Anything 101 is usually a first year very basic introductory course.

And please remember, there are no silly questions!
