Hi twocats, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

This is actually an interesting question and I'm interested in hearing other people's ideas.

I used to optimize for 1 keyword per page. Lately, following Brett's advise, I've been throwing in more keywords per page. I'm consciously optimizing for 5 keywords per page now, plus trying to work other possible kw combos into the text of the pages.

However, I recall someone mentioning that they optimize for a few dozen keywords per page.

I've been trying to use a variety on different sites to try to determine what works best.

Over a period of years I consistently find that aiming each page at no more than 6 or 7 gives me top rankings across all engines generally.
Definately *do* use different terms on different pages.
Use each page for a diffrent purpose wherever it's appropriate.
NB Keywords need support in all areas of the page - including text on the page itself to be effective naturally in line with honesty with engines - the best and only policy :)
