Hi folks, I've to do SEO for a multitopic website dedicated to, i.e., sports with a section dedicated to a concrete sport. Consecuently, every section has a different KW related with sports (football is a sport) but doesn't include "sport" in their names. So, the right way to work would be to optimize the home for "sports" and then every single section for the correspondent KW? woudl I get rankings or I wouldn't?

In this case the old example of a site about widgets with different sections about "blue widgets" "big widgets", "old widgets", etc... doesn't work because the names are quite different. Wich are your experiences with Google in similar cases?

Thanks!

Optimize for the phrases so that they are never separated. There's little use in trying to target the generic "sports" these days. Go for the two-five word multiphrases. "high school sports" becomes just a one word entity that you target for.

Hi Brett, thanks for your feedback. I know the theory you are talking about but unfortunatly the contents of this site are quite general. I mean, they speak about 11 different sports and they do it superficially so I have to try with general words but I'm not sure how.... In example, you click on football and you find some news, some flash stuff, a contest and some clasifications of the different leagues. I donīt know how to focus it
