Is is better to remove whitespace or truncate text?

Here is an odd question. I am limited on the amount of characters that a partner site will put in a hyperlink to me. I want to make the text keyword dense however I am one character short. So, I can either remove a space from the link (condensing two words into one long word) or leave off the last character of my last word.

Ideas? Comments? Experiences?

Leave off the last word completely.

Don't condense the words into one unless the 'new' word is relevant to your search.

A rug is one thing, a rat is another thing, a rugrat is neither one nor the other, and a search for rugrat won't get you results for rugs or rats.
