Using a comma in keywords meta list

Does anyone know how to use a comma in the keywords list?
I know that commas are used as delimiters, but is there a way for us to use them and have them indexed by search engines?

Maybe something like [ abc\,def ]?

I don't think positioning a comma with other non-word characters would work. They would still be identified as characters that aren't indexed. Your example would get indexed as:

abc def
