AltaVista's "Search Trends" page shows how global events can affect traffic.

If you can anticipate certain aspects it could generate significant traffic. For example, Look at the trend for Harry Potter.

Yes, I think we'd all like to have a little clairvoyance (sp?).

Interesting to compare it to the Google Zeitgeist [google.com]...Google seems to be a week ahead as I'm seeing these 2 pages. For instance, the AV trend has xbox as a top gainer, and google has it as a top decliner.

Happy to see that merits of laziness [about.altavista.com] is in the AV top 25 decliners... ;) ;) . Was that a book or a movie that I've not heard of?
