How many keywords to target on one page

What is the standard?

I have a couple of question regarding meta tags which I hope to get some answers and advice.

1. How many keyords should I target on one page?
2. Should I put only the main keyword within the title tag?
3. Is it a good idea to have the domain name in the title tag, if so does it go first or last?
4. In the description do I include my keywords, would it be a problem for the SE?
5. Should my body include all my keywords that are in the meta tags?

Your help would be greatly appreciated..

Hi,

Still haven't heard from anybody.

Here is how we have built our pages and metas and want to make sure we are doing it right.

1. Title Tags-Include domain name ex. Widgets.com:Small Sentence which includes main keyword phrase.
2. Keywords: 5 keyword phrases
3. Description: Small sentence such as Your Source for widgets, best widgets, custom widgets and designed widgets.
4. Body includes keyword phrase which we are trying to keep to a minimum such as two to three times per keyword phrase.

Now, our rankings are not the greatest and very possible we are doing something wrong..

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here's my take on your questions:
1. 3-5 keywords is probably the max you should utilize for one page. I would say 5 is pushing it, but if you can swing it, sweet.
2. The main keyword should always be in the title. If it makes sense while staying short, you can include a secondary keyword (i.e. red widget accessories..."red widgets is primary and widget accessories is secondary).
3. I usually try to include the domain name. Typically, I try to use the primary keyword first and then the domain/business name. Not sure if it really matters, though.
4. Yes, include your keywords in the description, but don't make it look like keyword stuffing (meaning don't use a sentance with a bunch of commas separating your keywords).
5. If you include the keywords in your metas, you should at least try to use them in your body copy once or twice. That's why it's best to use just a few keywords per page.

The lesser the better

I would go for just 2 of your most used keywords and once your site gets ranked highly then you can increase the keyword count one by one slowly.
