META Keywords Tag

Use commas or not?

Dear all,

I read somewhere that there is a maximum 874 character allowance in the meta keyword tag (including spaces and any other characters). I know that not using commas to seperate the keywords it will cause the SEs to 'combine' space-seperated words. In the long term, is it better to use commas or not? Is there any other special characters to use, for example [] to denote an exact phrase?

Best Regards

mona

Hello, G00gleFan, and welcome to Webmasterworld. As far as I know, there is no character limit for the meta description tag. However, the description and keyword tags are given little if no weight in the search engines algorithms any more. My suggestion would be to ignore the KW tags and write description tags that will encourage people to click on your site from the SERPS (search engine results pages).

There's a recent thread that goes into more detail on the subject here -
