I've noticed a few choice misspellings coming in on one of my sites but I was wondering how do people research/find misspellings? does anyone know of a site/tool that offers data on common misspellings

I don't know the answer to your question, but most of the mis-spellings I've found have come through taking note of my own typos when I make them. Chances are if I make a typo then others will also.
I had a $199 sale on a typo in September (actually more of a confused mis-spelling) that I didn't even know I'd made until the sale came through. Now I use both spellings, the right one and the wrong one.

the keyword on my site was a typo and although its not pulling much traffic every bit counts.

Both of the top keyword research tools KD and WT offer misspelling seach functions to identify common misspellings. Do a G search for: keyword research spelling mistakes
both come up in the results.

"tigger" I have mailed you a link. It will help you a lot. Its a typo generator, where you need to feed the main keyword, then it will automatically generate the typos for you.

And look at your logs. You may see misspellings there that would never have occurred to you.

Think of the way keywords might be pronounced in other languages - English can be tricky in that respect, as in "keyword" versus "keeword" - build sandbox pages to experiment with them. That's what I did. Effect so far: 0, but I started it last Friday - will keep you updated ;)
