Keyword density diluted by large navbar?

I have a very large navigation bar on one site. On many pages more than half the words on a page consists of linked text (about 250 links) in the navbar.

Although it is large it does appear at the bottom of the HTML (it is positioned using CSS)

I do not have a very high keyword density on many pages anyway, so is this further dilution likely to be damaging?

Depends on what you mean by 'keywords'. If it's for an online spider (ie. seach engine) then it could confuse it a bit. But otherwise it should be alright, assuming ALL links will be linked back to your main page including your meta's and ror file.

If it's for an internal search using keywords. Then don't worry about it, it'll be fine. Would just probably take a while to search.

A key thing to remember when dealing with online spiders, is that most only accept a specific amount of key words. I think the limit is around 26...but that could just be plain wrong lol. Basically keep it short and simple.

The more pages you have with meta data (ror or not, desc. or otherwise) will add to the clutter of things. It all depends on what exactly you want your client to obtain when searching for anything on your site. Do you want them to achieve specified pages when they look for specific data? Or just your main page containing the links to that data they searched for. In that case, just ONLY use meta/ror data on your main page. THen you can have thousands of links and it doesn't matter. But add an internal search to make it easier for your client.

Anyhoo, that's my 2 cents :D Rock on graeme_p.
