when i search for "philippines" in the overture keyword selector tool, it returns only results with "philippine" - without the S at the end
yet in google the former returns 58M results and the latter without the S only 4M
could this be something to do with regional spelling?

Overture lumps singular and plural searches into the same count. For example, I live in the Florida Keys and Overture returns those results as florida key ...

that is why it is better to use other search term suggestion tools that do not merge plurals and like words together.

I hate the Overture tool, it is far from accurate. Use other, more reliable tools that you have to pay for to gain access too. Have at least three sources so you can verify your results.
