I'm starting a website that sells widgets - that's the business I'm in. Widgets is a very competitive keyword, and I am not clear how to branch off from there. Any advice at all would be helpful. Also as I branch, SEO is everything (limited budget). So thinking adwords to help and SEO for marketing. Not sure on affliates...etc. I see my competitor on the top of every adword keyword...anythoughts to try and get a leg up.

-Im thinking top products list on the side
-informative articles
-supplement catagories
-forum

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Mark

Hey, bullneedsapic. Are you familiar with themes? If not, take some time to read Brett's Search Engine Theme Pyramids [searchengineworld.com]. This explains in detail how to branch off from your main keyword and should give you a good start.
