Keywords and web designers?

Hi folks, I have written and I run a New Zealand based search engine and I have just seen the most diabolical non usage of keywords I have ever seen!
So far my engine has indexed around twenty eight million kiwi webpages.
It is so sad it's almost funny,
A website deals with "gapbuster mystery shoppers", they shout how professional they are regarding branding.. and brand names. How good they are at web design but having just indexed their website shows they haven't even used the keywords in the website.
It is almost like Ford not using the word Ford in their website.
In fact a search using my search engine shows this page has a higher score than the whole of their website, all five hundred pages of it.
Even my webspider comes in here and gets more keywords.
Web designers?
I just had to share this with everyone, even the newest person who is looking at web design understands the need for keyword optimisation...

You'd think so, but it certainly isn't always true.

In my experience I don't think that this is necessarily true. I often have to explain this process to prospective clients. I got so fed up with doing this over and over again that I wrote a report on it and I now mail it to all of my inquirers. I honestly think that the people who fully understand this process are still in fairly small minority.

I see something similar - "web designers" putting major keywords in images or using technology breakers that prevent the code being seen by search engines. However most of them are graphics experts or programmers who know nothing about marketing a website.
