High Ranking in MSN.de

Can I expect same results for MSN.com

I recently started a new website about 3 months ago. For an extremely competitive keyword on Msn.de I rank number 1 and have held that position for several weeks now.

However I am nowhere to be found on Msn.com for this same keyword.

The strange part is that my site is US based but yet my ranking are doing much better in other countries in regards to ranking.

My question is this. Seeing that my site is very new can I expect my ranking to get better in the US search engines that come close to the success that I am receiving now it outside engines in other countries? Or is this the best I can expect.

Thanks!

Try adding your site to the Microsoft b central small business directory. In my experience if your site is business related it should help msn.com work a little faster getting it indexed higher.

MSN has been scrambling to stay current in the search wars and they are a tad behind the times. Up until recently they were still using Inktomi data as their supplemental results. This made their results almost identical to Yahoo's. Now they have their own search. I am confident if your site ranks well in .de it will in US with some time.

Is it in DMOZ? and Yahoo dir? If you also put a link there you will get rewarded in MSN greatly! They love Dmoz listings.

Thanks Coop99. Yes I am in Yahoo Dir, have submitted to Dmoz but not yet listed. I will take your good advise and use it wisely.

Would it be silly to assume that because I have such good ranking in Msn.de that in the future I will do well in Google, Yahoo and all the rest in the US?

Does anybody have any opinions or experiences with this?

Thanks Again for your response.

Joehouse -

Each MAJOR engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN, ASK) will have a different set of ranking criteria than the other. It would be logical to assume MSN.de would yield well in MSN extensions (including msn com in the US). As for any other MAJOR engine you will have to tackle each one by one.

Google looks primarily for quality inbound natural links. There are several ways to accomplish this - time, natural popularity, tech tools, articles. If too many links are released at once you will be sandboxed!

ASK is primarily paid inclusion and has been for awhile now.

Yahoo looks toward meta content and page content. Once you get listed in DMOZ your Yahoo ranking will increase. Yahoo is also big on putting keywords into your link text. In my experience Yahoo does not obey robots in the meta content. If you want multiple pages indexed there are strategies you can use.(sticky me)

MSN will show you the rankings once you get into DMOZ and begin your linking strategy(ies).

Doing well in MSN.de guaratees nothing in other non related engines. There are several things you can do that are PROVEN to be beneficial in all of them though!

Hope this helps!
