Keyword Density Analyzer

Help! Some of my words have high percentages

Hi

I've just used a Keyword Density Analyzer to test a web site I'm designing. Bearing in mind that an approx safe percentage is 3-8%, I was a bit concerned to see that two single word phrases, four 2 word phrases and four 3 word phrases are way over that percentage. In fact the three word phrases are 20-30%. One 2 word phrase is "New Zealand". It's not even one of my keywords (but maybe it should be!) but it comes up as 18%. Will I get penalized for it?

The text that is written flows nicely and there is nothing spammy about it at all. Am I reading the analyzer wrong? The analyzer I'm using is [searchengineworld.com...]

Thanks for any help

Hi there, Andromeda and welcome to WebmasterWorld.

> Will I get penalized for it?
As long as your not doing anything against sketchy like hidden text, you won't get penalized. And if your copy reads well, your users shouldn't find your site spammy.

Well, it already sounds like it is. Your copy should usually tell you what your keyword phrases are naturally. If you find something that is not what your site is about, you may want to consider rewriting it. You don't want to draw visitors to your site with phrases that are unrelated to you niche.

Depends on your niche ..I have one of the worlds keyword spammiest sites there is 27% ..makes # 1 on "G" .

Another site ..in another niche only has 3% ..same position ..

I use digital points keyword analyzer along with Overture's keyword suggestion tool and WordTracker to tell me how popular that word is. The more popular the word is, the higher the density you need but then you have a danger of going over the limit --and who knows what that is?

PS. I've been checking other Keyword Density analyzers and they all give different percentages for the same page even when I can set the portions of the page that are analyzed.

what I did was take a page that is ranking #1 for it's main keywords and all the words on that page were under 8%, then using the same analyzer I adjusted my other pages that were too high and have dropped out of sight and hopefully those keywords on that page will come back into view.

Anyone know how long it takes after you've overdone it?

Thanks everybody for replying to my question. I really appreciate your comments. And like Lorel, I'd be interested to know how long it takes after you've overdone a page?
