Keyword Popularity Question

I am considering building a site who's topic is based on a specific search keyword, hoping to get some of that traffic. I am using the overture search suggestion tool to investigate the popularity of the keyword. My question is, how many searches per month make this worthwhile? Say the keyword "green widgets" gets 2000 searches per month according to overture, does building greenwidgets.com make it worthwhile? What number of searches would you look for?

Also, I am wondering whether to register greenwidgets.com or green-widgets.com. Which one would you recommend?

Greenwidgets.com vs. green-widgets.com? I would go with the single word version (greenwidgets.com)

Don't know what to say about a minimum number of searches. If my intention was to get traffic directly from that search term, I would probably not go for less than 1000/month.
